SpaceX Sets New Rocket Reuse Record with Successful Starlink Satellite Launch
SpaceX has once again broken its own record for rocket reuse, launching a Falcon 9 rocket for the 26th time early this morning. The mission carried 21 of the company’s Starlink broadband satellites into orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
This latest launch marks the 26th time that the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket has been used, surpassing the previous record set just last month. The booster successfully returned to Earth, landing on a platform in the Atlantic Ocean about eight minutes after liftoff.
In a post on social media, SpaceX shared video footage of the landing, stating, “Falcon 9 lands on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship, completing the first 26th launch and landing of an orbital class rocket.”
The upper stage of the Falcon 9 deployed the 21 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit as planned. These satellites are part of SpaceX’s ongoing efforts to expand its Starlink broadband constellation, which currently consists of nearly 7,000 operational satellites.
This successful launch is the 20th Falcon 9 liftoff of the year and the 14th dedicated to the Starlink mission. The same Falcon 9 first stage was previously used just over a month ago for another Starlink launch on January 10.
