Special Security Zones Declared in Mardin – Latest News from Turkey
The Mardin Governorship has announced that certain areas in the rural area of Nusaybin district have been designated as “special security zones” for a 15-day period. According to the statement released by the Governorship, the rural areas of Yakinca, Bahminin, Sapanlı, Tekağaç, Güneli, Kaleli, Arpalı, Yol, and Şekrin neighborhoods of the district have been declared temporary special security zones from December 27, 2023, to January 10, 2024.
The statement emphasized the importance of maintaining national security, public order, and public well-being, preventing crime, and protecting the rights and freedoms of others. It urged citizens not to enter the designated area without permission during the specified dates in order to ensure their own safety and that of their property.
The decision to establish special security zones is in accordance with the relevant articles of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442. The Governorship’s announcement serves as a reminder to residents to comply with the regulations in place for the specified period.
