State Security Service Detains Officials for Corruption and Fraud in Uzbekistan
The State Security Service in Uzbekistan has detained several high-ranking officials for their involvement in corruption and fraud cases in the Fergana, Jizzakh, and Samarkand regions.
One of the individuals involved was the head of the department at an electric company in Rishton district, Fergana region. It was revealed that his pottery workshop was illegally connected to the electricity grid, and he demanded a bribe of $10,000 to reduce a potential fine of 2 billion soums. He was caught receiving $6,600 in a sting operation conducted by the State Security Service.
In another case, the assistant governor of a mahalla in Margilon city was arrested for accepting a bribe of $2,000 to manipulate a land auction in Fergana city. Similarly, the head of a detention center in Jizzakh region was caught demanding $10,000 to ensure a non-custodial sentence for a detained individual. He was arrested while receiving $5,000 in bribe money.
Additionally, an employee of the National Guard Security Department in Samarkand region was caught accepting a bribe of $1,500 to influence a criminal case against a local citizen. All of these individuals are currently under investigation and facing criminal charges.
The State Security Service has vowed to crackdown on corruption and fraudulent activities in the country, and these recent arrests demonstrate their commitment to tackling such issues. Investigations into these cases are ongoing to ensure accountability and justice prevails.
