SSS Detains Resident Smuggling 80 Million Rubles to Kyrgyzstan
State Security Service officers in Namangan have successfully prevented the illegal smuggling of foreign currency out of Uzbekistan. A resident of Namangan, born in 1990, was apprehended by the authorities as he was attempting to transport a large sum of money out of the country for a promised fee of $300.
The operation conducted by the Namangan regional department of the State Security Service led to the interception of the individual in the Yangikurgan district, as he was driving a Lacetti car towards the Kyrgyzstan border. Upon searching the vehicle, three plastic bags containing 79,994,900 Russian rubles (equivalent to over $900,000) were discovered.
It was revealed that the man had agreed to transport the money abroad in exchange for a payment of $300. As a result of this arrest, a criminal case has been launched under the violation of customs legislation on an especially large scale, as stated in paragraph “A”, Part 2 of Art. 182 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. The detainee is currently under custody.
This successful intervention by the State Security Service underscores the ongoing efforts to combat illicit activities, and serves as a deterrent to those who engage in illegal smuggling operations.
