Statement on Palestine: A Key Factor for Middle East Peace, says Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Kurtulmuş

Efforts Should be Made to Establish an Independent Palestinian State, Says Speaker of Turkish Grand National Assembly
Numan Kurtulmuş, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), has expressed the need to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital. Kurtulmuş emphasized the importance of not only a Palestine that exists on paper, but also one that maintains its territorial integrity.
Speaking at an online meeting organized by the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (İSİPAB) to discuss the developments in Palestine, Kurtulmuş highlighted the urgent need for a ceasefire to address the humanitarian crisis in the region. He stressed the responsibility of the international community, especially Muslim countries, to provide support and aid to the innocent and oppressed people in Gaza.
Kurtulmuş criticized the silence of certain countries, particularly Western nations, regarding the civilian casualties in Palestine. He condemned the hierarchy created among civilians when it comes to tragedies experienced by Muslims, urging for equality and justice in responding to such crises. He expressed Turkey’s determination to advocate for the establishment of a free Palestinian state in the Middle East to ensure world peace.
The TBMM Speaker called for the United Nations Security Council to convene, highlighting the need for a fair and just global system that can effectively address and resolve conflicts. Kurtulmuş stated that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East could have far-reaching consequences for the entire world and emphasized the importance of raising collective voices against oppression and injustice.
In the joint declaration discussed during the İSİPAB meeting, Kurtulmuş proposed four key issues to be addressed. These included drawing global attention to the war crimes committed by Israel, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, reinforcing aid efforts, and emphasizing the commitment of Islamic countries to the Palestinian cause.
Kurtulmuş’s statements reflect Turkey’s unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and its condemnation of the violence and oppression witnessed in the region. Turkey urges the international community to take a proactive approach in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and safeguarding the rights and well-being of the Palestinian people.
