Steering Committee Meeting for Turkmenistan-UN Sustainable Development Program 2021-2025
A meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the UN for 2021-2025 was held on December 13, 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting, held in a hybrid format, saw the participation of heads and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives from various ministries, departments, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, and UN structural divisions.
The Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development is a crucial document that outlines Turkmenistan’s partnership with the UN and its agencies on a systematic basis. It is based on medium- and long-term programs and plans for joint activities. During the meeting, discussions revolved around the UN recommendations for the final assessment of the implementation of the Framework Program for the period 2021-2025. The progress made by each of the five Groups based on the results of the implementation of the document was also reviewed, along with the development of the next cycle of the Framework for 2026-2030.
In concluding the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to continue coordinating the development of the document at the interdepartmental level. This effort aims to contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthen the partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN.
