Strengthening Cultural Ties Between Turkmenistan and China
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China Parahat Durdyev recently addressed a high-level conference focusing on the cultural tourism industry in Shandong. The conference, which was part of the “Discover the Beauty of China” tour, saw the participation of representatives from various diplomatic missions in China.
During his speech, Ambassador Durdyev highlighted the strong cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and China. He specifically emphasized the longstanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and Shandong province, citing the historical exchange of knowledge, experience, and trade along the Great Silk Road.
Shandong province was actively involved in events held in 2023 as part of the “Year of Culture and Art of the Peoples of Central Asia and China,” and China is gearing up to celebrate the Year of Culture of Turkmenistan in the near future.
Notably, Shandong is renowned as the birthplace of Confucius, the influential philosopher of ancient China whose teachings continue to shape Chinese civilization. Similarly, Turkmenistan draws inspiration from the legacy of Magtymguly Fragi, a prominent figure whose principles of peace, good neighborliness, and friendship resonate with modern-day Turkmenistan’s commitment to neutrality.
As the first group of diplomats to participate in the “Discover the Beauty of China” tour, Ambassador Durdyev expressed his intention to share the insights and experiences gained in Shandong province with the respective peoples of Turkmenistan and China.
The cultural exchange and collaboration between Turkmenistan and China, particularly with Shandong province, serve as a testament to the enduring ties between the two nations. The event underscored the shared values of peace, cultural heritage, and mutual understanding that continue to strengthen the bond between Turkmenistan and China.
