Stricter Regulations Signed to Ensure Rational Energy Use

Bishkek, December 24, 2024 – The President of Kyrgyzstan has recently signed amendments to the Law “On Energy Saving” in an effort to promote the effective and rational use of energy resources.
According to the amendments, energy surveys will now be conducted for organizations, enterprises, and buildings to ensure the optimal use of fuel and energy resources. This will apply throughout the technological process, regardless of the entity’s ownership status.
Additionally, the law holds local state administrations and government bodies accountable for ensuring the efficient use of energy resources in buildings under their jurisdiction. This includes the use of highly efficient energy-consuming devices and equipment.
Furthermore, amendments to Article 11 focus on fuel and energy metering, requiring consumers to be provided with meters for electricity, natural gas, and thermal energy. This move aims to improve billing systems for all types of consumers, ensuring accurate measurement of energy consumption in accordance with regulations set by the Cabinet of Ministers.
These measures are set to enhance energy efficiency in Kyrgyzstan and contribute to the sustainable use of resources for the benefit of the environment and economy.
