Su-25 KGK Successfully Hits Target from a Distance of 12!

Azerbaijan’s Su-25 attack aircraft has successfully hit a target during a recent test conducted using the KGK guided bomb. The test was carried out as part of the “Spotter Day” organized under the Anatolian Eagle 2023 training program. The KGK-82 guidance kit was used in the shooting, enabling the Su-25 to have long-range strike capability.

The KGK family of guidance kits includes the UPS winged guidance kit, which can convert existing unguided 1000lb Mk83 and 500lb Mk82 general purpose bombs into air-to-ground long-range smart munitions. The UPS guidance kit has been fired from various aircraft, including the F-16, F-4E, AKINCI TİHA, and AKSUNGUR SİHA. The KGK-84, designed for 2000 lb Mk84 general purpose bombs, has also recently been added to the family. Ongoing studies are being conducted for the laser and mmW wavelength seekers.

The TOLUN miniature bomb was also on display during the Anatolian Eagle 2023/2 training. It was spotted on SOLOTÜRK’s F-16 fighter plane with the SADAK4T smart multi-carrying salon. The TOLUN’s firing tests were carried out from the F-16 and AKINCI TİHA.

The KGK integration is a significant development for Azerbaijan’s Su-25 attack aircraft, which now has improved long-range strike capability. This will undoubtedly prove crucial in future combat scenarios. The ongoing studies for the UPS guidance kit and other members of the KGK family only indicate further potential improvements in air-to-ground technologies.
