Disaster Averted in Controlled Demolition in Hatay
In the aftermath of the earthquakes that struck Kahramanmaraş, Hatay has been working tirelessly to demolish and remove debris from buildings whose legal processes have been completed. Recently, in the Kurtuluş Neighborhood of the İskenderun district, a 6-story apartment building was being demolished in a controlled manner when an unexpected incident occurred.
During the demolition process, the building collapsed into the garden of the İş-Kur building next door, causing damage to the surroundings. İş-Kur personnel and citizens in the area were caught off guard and experienced panic as a result of the unexpected turn of events. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported, and the debris in the İş-Kur garden was promptly cleaned up with the help of construction machines.
One eyewitness, Muhterem Yıkar, shared his account of the incident, expressing concern for his own property as well. He mentioned that the damage caused by the collapsed building was unexpected and extensive, leading to chaos and panic among İş-Kur employees.
