Construction of new bypass road in Uzgen set to showcase public-private partnership in Kyrgyzstan
The implementation of the project on the construction of a bypass road in Uzgen is poised to be a shining example of the application of the public-private partnership mechanism in Kyrgyzstan, according to Denis Ilin, Senior Managing Director of the Eurasian Development Bank. Speaking at a Business Forum, Ilin emphasized the importance of utilizing the PPP instrument, which is currently underutilized in Central Asia.
The project, which involves the construction of a 14-kilometer bypass road in Uzgen, is expected to not only improve transportation infrastructure in the region but also serve as a model for the use of the PPP mechanism in neighboring countries such as Tajikistan and Armenia. The PPP model allows participating countries to undertake large investment projects without significant budgetary pressures, by engaging private investors in the development process.
With construction already underway, the new bypass road in Uzgen is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and enhance road safety in the area. This initiative showcases the potential of public-private partnerships to drive sustainable development and infrastructure improvements in Kyrgyzstan and beyond.
