Süleyman Soylu’s Audio Recording Now Available in English

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has accused a member of the main opposition party, Ünal Çeviköz, of sharing confidential information with an EU country ambassador. Speaking on a television programme, Soylu defended the government’s decision to investigate the matter, stating that the state has a duty to follow potential spies. Soylu claimed to have audio recordings of Çeviköz’s actions, and suggested that the politician had attended a meeting with the ambassador to discuss potential election results and candidate nominations. Çeviköz has denied the allegations.
