Summer Electricity System Officials Ensure Uninterrupted Operation

The Uzbekistan government has held a videoconference meeting to discuss the situation of renewable energy sources and measures to ensure stable operations of the energy system during summer. The meeting was under the chairmanship of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who emphasized the need to consider measures to prevent load overload that can lead to failure. To ensure stable and continuous operation of electrical systems in summer, 30,000 kilometers of low-voltage electrical network and 10,000 transformers will be repaired in a timely and high-quality manner. A special program for improving electricity supply was adopted in Tashkent in March, with 4.2 trillion soums allocated for it. The program aimed to renew and reconstruct 900 kilometers of power lines, 230 transformers, and build five new substations. Governors of regions were instructed to calculate the needs for the stock of electrical equipment and materials and allocate 10 billion soums in each region. The goal is to complete the network and transformer repair work by August 1, 2023, for which about 400 brigades will be organized in regions, cities, and districts. The officials were also instructed to supply 6 million cubic meters more gas to thermal power stations, create 200,000 tons of fuel oil reserves by July 1, and define tasks to strengthen state control in the fuel and energy sector by ending illegal consumption of electricity and gas.
