Summer staff rotation begins at public workplaces today
Summer shifts have begun in public workplaces in North Cyprus. The new schedule will be in effect until September 17th, and it entails a shortened workweek from Monday to Thursday, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
According to the revised laws on public health workers and public servants, summer working hours will be from 08:00 to 14:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while on Thursdays, they will be between 08:00 to 12:30 and 13:00 to 17:30. This schedule will apply to all public officials except for those who handle essential services that run continuously 24 hours a day.
In addition, public officials working in institutions such as Famagusta Chief Pilot and Port Authority, Kyrenia Chief Pilot and Port Authority, Famagusta Customs Branch Office, Girne Customs Branch Office, and State Production Farms will follow their respective working hours based on location.
There are some upcoming changes in the pipeline to create more uniformity in the public sector. The Prime Minister, Ünal Üstel, announced that a uniform shift for all public servants is being developed. The new schedule will entail a standard workweek from Monday to Friday, with working hours similar to the current schedule. More information about the changes will be provided once the legal studies are completed.
Overall, the summer shift schedule is in effect for the next few months, and public officials should adhere to their respective working hours. The changes for creating a uniform shift will be announced once finalized.
