Bishkek Police Detain Suspect in Telephone Fraud
The capital’s police have successfully detained a suspect in a case of telephone fraud, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the report, a resident filed a complaint stating that on January 11, an unknown man contacted her via WhatsApp, claiming to be an employee of Mbank.
The fraudulent individual, under the guise of assisting with security issues, managed to withdraw $1,400 from the victim’s account. Additionally, they took out loans in two different banks totaling 119,600 soms. In total, the suspect fraudulently misappropriated 244,643 soms from the victim.
The 19-year-old suspect has been apprehended, and the court has decided to keep him in detention as a preventive measure. The investigation into this case is ongoing, as authorities work to bring justice to the victim of this fraudulent scheme.
