Tajik President Emomali Rahmon extends invitation to Zhogorku Kenesh deputies for visit

The Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh (Parliament of Kyrgyzstan), Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, recently held a meeting with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, who was visiting Kyrgyzstan on a state visit. The press service of the Parliament reported that the two leaders discussed various issues related to the further development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
One of the key topics of discussion was the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary interaction between the two countries. Speaker Turgunbek uulu emphasized the significance of clarifying state borders to enhance relations between the two neighboring nations, highlighting the critical role of the political will of the heads of state in advancing cooperation.
During the meeting, it was announced that the checkpoints Kairagach and Kyzyl-Bel on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border have been opened, which will facilitate the movement of citizens and boost trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Turgunbek uulu stressed that this achievement will also help strengthen ties in the border areas.
Both leaders acknowledged the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering closer ties between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. President Rahmon commended the contribution of deputies in resolving the civil war in Tajikistan and underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in bolstering interstate relations.
President Rahmon also urged the parliaments of both countries to actively collaborate in furthering Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation, emphasizing the deputies’ role in expanding political dialogue between the two nations. He invited the Zhogorku Kenesh deputies, led by Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, to visit Tajikistan officially, highlighting that such bilateral visits would enhance political dialogue.
