Tajikistan Leads Development of Strategy for Digitalization of Multimodal Transport Corridors in CIS

Tajikistan has taken the lead in developing a Strategy for the Digitalization of Multimodal Transport Corridors of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) during its chairmanship in the Commonwealth.

The Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan has announced the organization of an expert meeting to discuss key aspects of the strategy. Experts from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and specialists from transport and customs authorities of CIS member states have been involved in the development process.

The first thematic meeting is scheduled to take place in March 2025 in Bangkok as part of the International Forum of Dry Port Operators and Logistics and Multimodal Transport Services.

This initiative aims to improve the efficiency of international transportation, which is essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Global demand for freight transport is projected to increase by 100% and for passenger transport by 79% by the year 2050.

This strategic development by Tajikistan signals a commitment to advancing digitalization in transport corridors and contributing to the overall development of the region.
