Tanzila Narbaeva meets with David Cameron to boost ties between Uzbekistan and UK
On April 23, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, visited Tashkent where he was welcomed by Tanzila Narbaeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis in Uzbekistan. The purpose of his visit was to discuss and strengthen the political-diplomatic dialogue between the two countries.
During their meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in various areas such as trade, economics, culture, and parliamentary ties. They recognized the progress made in the relationship between Uzbekistan and the UK in recent years and discussed joint projects in developing the green economy and combatting climate change.
The focus was also on enhancing educational and cultural ties, with discussions on expanding English-taught programs and fostering the growth of modern fields in higher education. David Cameron commended Uzbekistan’s efforts in promoting human rights, decent work principles, gender equality, and combating domestic violence.
Moreover, the meeting highlighted the recent advancements in inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two nations, with discussions on further enhancing dialogue in this area. Prior to this meeting, Cameron had also met with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, resulting in the signing of two documents aimed at strengthening cooperation between the UK and Uzbekistan.
