Tashkent Airport Welcomes New Cargo Terminal

A new state-of-the-art cargo terminal, UzCargo, has been unveiled at Tashkent International Airport, boasting an impressive annual capacity of 120,000 tons. The expansive complex, spread across 5.2 hectares, includes a warehouse, refrigerated and freezer storage units, an administrative building, and a parking zone, as highlighted by Uzbekistan Airports.

The warehouse, covering 8,500 square meters, has dedicated 500 square meters to refrigerated and freezer chambers tailored to cargo with specific temperature requirements. Specialized storage areas have been designated for plants, live animals, valuable goods, food products, and pharmaceuticals, equipped with precise thermal sensors for temperature control.

In a statement released by Uzbekistan Airports, it was revealed that the previous cargo terminal, built between 1994 and 2000, consisted of outdated small- and medium-sized warehouses and administrative facilities totaling about 3 hectares. The terminal’s existing capacity was limited to 30,000 tons annually, yet in 2024, Tashkent Airport processed close to 80,000 tons of cargo and mail, necessitating a modernized approach.

To streamline operations, the warehouse has been outfitted with cutting-edge technology from leading global manufacturers, including shelving systems, lifting and transport equipment, and inventory management tools, all aimed at enhancing efficiency and adhering to international service standards.

Furthermore, a new three-story administrative building spanning 3,000 square meters has been erected to accommodate UzCargo staff, service employees (customs, veterinary, plant quarantine, etc.), company representatives, airlines, customs brokers, and cargo recipients.

Established on November 1, 2022, UzCargo (Uzbekistan Airports Cargo LLC) is a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Airports JSC, inheriting the legacy of the Tashkent Airport Postal and Cargo Complex. The company offers an array of services such as cargo handling and storage, loading and unloading operations, and the preparation of transport documentation to meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry.
