New Palm Scanning Payment System Launched in Tashkent Metro
A new biometric payment system based on palm scanning has been launched at the Druzhba Narodov metro station in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The system, called Palm ID, uses vein images for biometric identification and allows commuters to pay for their travel without the need for bank or transport cards.
Developed by UZINFOCOM, Palm ID works by having individuals hold their palm over a scanner, which then automatically identifies them and debits the payment for their journey. Users are required to input their personal data through a special program, and a virtual card is opened and replenished with funds through a mobile application.
This innovative payment system aims to simplify the commute for residents of Tashkent, providing a convenient and secure way to pay for public transportation without the need for physical cards or cash.
