Tashkent Ranks as Most Polluted City, Tops Lahore and Delhi

Tashkent Tops Global Air Pollution Ranking
On February 21, Tashkent claimed the top spot for the city with the highest air pollution levels in the world. According to the IQAir portal, at 08:50, the concentration of fine PM2.5 particulate matter in Tashkent’s air reached 196 µg/m3 – a level considered “harmful”.
This news comes as a concern for the residents of Tashkent and raises alarms about the city’s air quality. Following Tashkent, Lahore (Pakistan) was placed second in the ranking, followed by Delhi (India). The top ten also included Dhaka (Bangladesh), Yangon (Myanmar), Kathmandu (Nepal), Hanoi (Vietnam), Jakarta (Indonesia), Milan (Italy), and Kolkata (India).
The presence of high levels of PM2.5 particulate matter is a significant health risk, as highlighted by the World Health Organization. This air pollution indicator poses a serious threat to public health, and immediate measures need to be taken to address the issue.
It is essential for authorities in Tashkent and other cities experiencing high levels of air pollution to prioritize implementing policies and measures to reduce pollution levels and protect the health and well-being of their citizens. Addressing air pollution is crucial for creating a healthy and sustainable environment for all.
