The air quality in Uzbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent has reached alarming levels, according to a recent report by the IQAir portal. As of January 28, Tashkent has been ranked as the world’s most polluted major city in terms of air pollution levels.
The concentration of PM 2.5 particulate matter in the air reached 184 µg/m³ at 2:00 PM today, which is 36.8 times higher than the World Health Organization’s recommended annual average for air quality. This level of pollution is extremely harmful to human health and poses serious risks to residents of the city.
Social media users have shared videos showing a thick blanket of dust and black smoke enveloping the skies of Tashkent province. Residents have expressed concern over the hazardous air quality and its impact on their health and well-being.
Authorities are urged to take immediate action to address the air pollution crisis in Tashkent and improve the quality of air for its residents. Failure to do so could have severe consequences for public health and the environment.
