Tashkent targets $10 billion in foreign investments

In 2025, Tashkent is set to embark on an ambitious economic development plan, with the launch of 582 projects worth $2.5 billion and expectations of reaching exports totaling $4.8 billion.

Recently, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a report detailing efforts to reduce poverty, increase employment, boost investment, and enhance export performance. In an interview with Uzbekistan24 television, Tashkent’s mayor, Shavkat Umurzakov, outlined the city’s goals for the year 2025, including the creation of 1.5 million jobs with the help of commercial banks.

Umurzakov emphasized the city’s focus on attracting investments, with a target of bringing in $10 billion in capital. This is a significant increase from previous years, with Tashkent securing only $3 billion in 2024 and even less in 2023.

The city plans to attract a total of $6.8 billion in capital investments by the end of the year, with a significant portion coming from foreign sources. Approximately $2.9 billion is expected to be attracted in the first half of the year, followed by $3.9 billion in the second half.

The 582 projects set to be launched in 2025 will play a crucial role in Tashkent’s economic growth, with the service sector leading the way with 488 projects and a total investment of $2.1 billion. The industrial sector will see 94 projects with investments totaling $428 million.

President Mirziyoyev was also briefed on planned projects in construction, services, and manufacturing, along with the challenges facing their implementation. Umurzakov highlighted key issues in the industrial sector and expressed confidence in the president’s directives to address them.

With a systematic approach in place, Tashkent aims to achieve its investment targets and increase its export volume to $4.8 billion by the end of 2025. The city’s economic development plans are poised to bring significant growth and opportunities for its residents and businesses.
