Tashkent to Host Conferences on Strengthening Anti-Terrorism Efforts

The city of Tashkent is set to host two significant international conferences focused on combating terrorism and extremism. The 10th International Scientific and Practical Conference of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the 2nd Conference of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on Combating Terrorism and Extremism will take place on September 4-5.

Delegations from SCO and CIS countries, along with educational and research organizations specializing in countering terrorism and extremism, are expected to be in attendance at these events. Additionally, representatives from various international organizations such as the United Nations, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, Interpol, and the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG) will also participate.

One of the highlights of the conferences will be a joint anti-terrorism exercise organized by the State Security Service of Uzbekistan, under the coordination of the CIS ATC. Dubbed “East-Anti-Terror-2024,” this exercise aims to strengthen the efforts of CIS member states in combating terrorist crimes, particularly at critical infrastructure facilities and in crowded areas.

Overall, these conferences serve as crucial platforms for fostering collaboration and sharing best practices in the global fight against terrorism and extremism. Stakeholders from various countries and organizations coming together in Tashkent demonstrate a united front in addressing these pressing security challenges.
