Tax Department Employees Detained in Tokmak
Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has made significant progress in combating corruption with the recent detention of several officials and a private entrepreneur for abuse of office. The former head of the Department of the State Tax Service, as well as other officials, were involved in a conspiracy to evade taxes by falsifying documents and reports submitted to government agencies. This led to a staggering damage to the state budget of over 8,500 million soms.
The SCNS press center disclosed that the suspects have been placed in the pretrial detention center No. 1 of the State Penitentiary Service following their arrest on March 3. The investigation is ongoing, and the total amount of damage to the state budget may rise as further details emerge.
