TCG Kınalıada corvette joins fight against maritime piracy
The Turkish Navy’s TCG Kınalıada Corvette Completes Successful Support Mission Against Piracy in the Gulf of Aden
The Turkish Navy’s TCG Kınalıada corvette recently completed a successful support mission in the Gulf of Aden as part of the fight against piracy. The corvette was returning from Japan, where it had gone to commemorate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Japan.
According to a statement by the Ministry of National Defense, the TCG Kınalıada corvette conducted a direct support mission to the Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) under the command of the Turkish Naval Forces between August 1-10, 2024. During this mission, the corvette made port visits to Salalah, Oman between August 4-6 and Djibouti between August 8-13.
In Salalah, the Commander of TCG Kınalıada and the Muscat Military Attaché paid an official visit to the Naval Commander of Salalah. In Djibouti, the Turkish personnel provided training in communication, navigation/seamanship, and fire safety to the personnel of the Djibouti Coast Guard Command.
The successful completion of this mission highlights Turkey’s commitment to combating piracy in the region and further strengthening diplomatic ties with countries in the Gulf of Aden. The TCG Kınalıada corvette’s efforts have been recognized and praised by both national and international authorities.
