Teacher Convicted for Injuring 7-Year-Old Child Appears in Court – Headline News Today
Teacher Arrested After Causing Death of 7-Year-Old Child on First Day of School
A tragic incident occurred on the first day of orientation week at a school in the Altınordu district of Ordu, where 7-year-old Miray Arslan lost her life in a car accident caused by her physical education teacher, Banu Kaya. Despite all efforts to save her, Miray succumbed to her injuries on September 2.
Banu Kaya, who was arrested after the accident, appeared before the judge and claimed that the vehicle’s sensors did not warn her of any danger. She stated that she did not have music playing at the time of the accident and did not perceive any risk as she entered the school yard to park her car. Kaya also mentioned that due to the lack of parking spaces, teachers and staff often park their vehicles in the yard.
Miray’s mother, Eda Arslan, recounted the horrifying incident, stating that the teacher entered the garden at a high speed and ran over her daughter before continuing on without stopping. Witness Dilek Avcı confirmed that the teacher had been previously warned about driving recklessly.
The prosecutor determined that Banu Kaya was mainly at fault and charged her with ‘causing death through conscious negligence’. As a result, the physical education teacher’s arrest will be upheld.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of following safety protocols and being vigilant, especially in school settings where the lives of young children are at stake. The community mourns the loss of Miray Arslan and hopes that justice will be served in this heartbreaking case.
