Prime Minister Ünal Üstel Visits Teknofest TRNC, Celebrates Technological Progress
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel recently attended the Teknofest TRNC, an exciting event showcasing innovation and technology, held at the former Ercan Airport. Accompanied by ministers and several deputies, Üstel emphasized the significance of this festival for the Turkish Cypriot community, declaring it a day of pride.
In his remarks, Üstel highlighted the importance of bringing young people together with science and technology. He stated, “We see the power of Türkiye in the field of defense industry once again in this arena, and we are proud of it.” This acknowledgment points to Türkiye’s rising capabilities in defense technology, demonstrating a commitment to technological advancement.
Üstel further outlined his vision for the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). While tourism and education have historically been seen as the country’s primary economic sectors, he announced a transformative shift: “Now we are starting a new era. Our third locomotive sector will be technology.” This statement underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a technology-driven economy.
Despite the ongoing embargoes, Üstel expressed optimism about the future, noting the substantial progress made with the support of Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. His visit to Teknofest TRNC symbolizes a deliberate effort to inspire the next generation of innovators and affirm the potential of technology to reshape the nation’s economic landscape.
As the Teknofest continues, it highlights not just the innovations of today but the possibilities of tomorrow for the Turkish Cypriot people.
