Tender issued for Urgench International Airport management and modernization

Uzbekistan Airports to Transfer Management of Urgench International Airport

The government of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with Uzbekistan Airports, has announced the initiation of the selection process for a company to take over the management of Urgench International Airport, as reported by the Ministry of Transport. PwC and White & Case have been appointed as specialized consultants for the tender process, and all interested companies with relevant experience are encouraged to participate.

The selected managing company will be tasked with modernizing the airport using the “build — operate — transfer” (BOT) model. Key components of the project include the construction of a new 3,500-meter-long runway, main and auxiliary taxiways, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 1,000 and 300 passengers per hour for international and domestic flights respectively, an administrative terminal, a cargo terminal, a hangar for special equipment, and a catering complex.

To facilitate the tender process, negotiations and document exchanges will take place through a dedicated virtual data room. Interested parties are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to gain access to the virtual data room. Requests for access and submission of the NDA should be directed to tender.info@uzairports.com, along with expressions of interest and a scanned copy of the signed NDA.

Interested applicants must specify whether they are applying individually or as part of a consortium, listing all participants in the latter case, and provide the names and email addresses of participant representatives. The deadline for applications is set for 6:00 PM Tashkent time on September 14.

This project represents an opportunity for companies with expertise in similar projects to contribute to the modernization and development of Urgench International Airport. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting initiative.
