Terrorism Strikes TAI: The Reason Behind the Attack

TAI, one of the leading companies in the Turkish defense and aviation industry, has been at the forefront of important projects in recent years. Founded in 1973, TAI is responsible for the design, production, and modernization of aircraft needed by Turkey, as well as engaging in export activities. Air platforms such as Atak helicopters, T70 helicopters, Anka and Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicles, produced under TAI’s coordination, serve the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
TAI is also actively developing the air power of the security forces through projects such as the Hürkuş Basic Training Aircraft, Hürjet Training and Light Attack Aircraft, Gökbey Utility Helicopter, and the unmanned combat aircraft Anka III. One of TAI’s most significant projects currently in progress is the national combat aircraft Kaan, which marks a pivotal moment in Turkey’s aviation history.
With the Kaan project, Turkey is taking a crucial step towards establishing itself as a leading country in the world in warplane design and production. Kaan will position Turkey among the select few countries capable of producing 5th generation aircraft, thereby reducing foreign dependency and enhancing independence in the defense industry. The aim is for Kaan to be integrated into the Turkish Air Force inventory by 2028.
By diversifying and advancing its product line, TAI is significantly reducing Turkey’s reliance on external sources, enhancing national security, and boosting the country’s capabilities in the defense industry.
