Another Feast passes for the mothers in Diyarbakır who are separated from their children, making the holiday season a bitter reminder of their longing. For years, these mothers have been waiting, hoping, and praying for the safe return of their kidnapped children, allegedly taken by the PKK terrorist organization.
Since 2019, the vigil of these determined families has led to the successful reunion of 60 children with their parents. However, many families are still holding on to hope, waiting for their sons to come back to them.
“Eleven holidays have gone by without our children. The festivities have lost their joy for us, as we are forced to celebrate away from our loved ones. While everyone else is smiling and happy, we are left crying and longing for our children,” shared one of the mothers.
In a plea for their children’s return, families gathered in front of the former HDP Provincial Presidency in Diyarbakır, calling out to their missing loved ones. “To all the young people out there, we urge you to reconsider your choices and come back to us. Lay down your weapons and embrace peace,” they stated.
Recently, another family joined the ranks of the Diyarbakır mothers in their quest to be reunited with their missing sons. As they continue to endure the pain of separation, these brave mothers are unwavering in their determination to bring their children home.
