The Bar Murder: Punishment Revealed

A new development in the bar murder case has revealed the punishment for the perpetrators. The incident took place in an entertainment venue in Yenibağlar District last year, leading to the death of Doğukan Yener. A fight broke out between the staff and customers, leaving Yener seriously injured. He was taken to Yunus Emre State Hospital where it was discovered that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage. Yener died 7 days later.

Mertcan Allar, accused of punching Yener during the fight, was arrested, while 13 others were released. The trial of 14 defendants began at the Eskişehir 5th High Criminal Court. At the hearing, Suzan Yener, the mother of the victim, expressed her desire for the defendants to receive the heaviest punishment, stating, “I want the criminals to be punished in the most severe way. I am covered in wounds. Either they should be punished or they should give me back my Doğukan.”

Mertcan Allar, the detained defendant, claimed that he did not act with the intent to kill and expressed regret for not acting calmly. He stated that he did not have enmity towards the victim and hoped for a fair trial.

Following the defense statements, the Eskişehir 5th High Criminal Court sentenced Mertcan Allar to life imprisonment for the “intentional murder” of Doğukan Yener. The entertainment venue employee and the defendants without arrest were also sentenced, while 10 other defendants were acquitted in the case.
