The Destructive Impact of Unexpected Fines: A Surprising Turn of Events
Minaret Master Receives Traffic Fine for Violation in Another City
Fuat Uyar, a minaret master residing in the Sorgun district of Yozgat, recently received a shocking surprise when a traffic fine arrived at his doorstep. The fine, amounting to 1,506 TL, was issued for a red light violation in Şanlıurfa. However, Uyar claims he has never visited Şanlıurfa in his life and that the vehicle described in the fine receipt is a 2015 model, while his own vehicle is a 2019 model.
Uyar believes he is a victim of twin license plates and is eagerly awaiting for the issue to be resolved.
Recalling the moment he discovered the fine, Uyar shared, “I was at home working on the construction of a mosque’s minaret when my wife handed me the penalty receipt. I was surprised to see it was for running a red light. I am very cautious when it comes to traffic violations, and I would never intentionally break a red light. The fact that it was reportedly in Şanlıurfa caught my attention even more, as I have never traveled to that city.”
Upon closer inspection of the fine receipt, Uyar noticed that the license plate number was the same, but the vehicle model and brand listed were different from his own. “I purchased my 2019 model gray car in 2019, and I have not changed the license plate since then. I urge the authorities to rectify this error as soon as possible. I have filed a complaint and am anxiously awaiting a resolution. I refuse to pay a fine for something I did not commit,” Uyar asserted.
As Uyar seeks justice in this unusual case of mistaken identity, he hopes that the authorities will soon provide a satisfactory explanation for the erroneous traffic fine.
