A recent meeting of the Council of Elders under the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan and the Council of Elders under the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation was held at the capital’s Palace of Congresses on Wednesday, January 31.
During the meeting, a new member of the Council of Elders under the Halk Maslakhaty and the Council of Elders under the Charitable Foundation was elected. Additionally, the issues related to the popularization of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s book “Youth are the Support of the Motherland” in the education of patriotic, highly spiritual youth with a broad outlook were discussed. These discussions were revealed in a news release from Turkmen State Television and Radio.
The meeting also saw a review of the activities carried out by the elders to promote the socio-political significance of the motto of 2024 – “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.”
In December 2022, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed and approved a plan of events to mark the solemn celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly. Thematic meetings, forums, presentations, and creative events dedicated to the great Turkmen poet are being held in Turkmenistan and abroad to contribute to this celebration.
Furthermore, a grandiose monument to Magtymguly Fragi in the south of Ashgabat is planned as part of the upcoming anniversary celebrations. Additionally, a cultural and park complex dedicated to the classics of Russian literature in the foothills of the Kopetdag will be created at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Monuments to poets and thinkers of other countries are set to be installed on the territory of the complex to symbolize friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness of peoples, in line with Magtymguly Fragi’s works.
The activities of the Council of Elders at the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation were also reviewed during the meeting. The Foundation has been actively involved in providing assistance to children in need of care in medical institutions in Ashgabat and regions of the country, as well as supporting the treatment costs and the purchase of medical supplies for pupils of orphanages, specialized schools, and boarding schools. In 2023, the Foundation also extended its assistance to children in Turkey, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, Afghanistan, and Palestine.
The meeting’s discussions and decisions highlight the ongoing efforts of Turkmenistan to promote education, preserve cultural heritage, and provide support to those in need.
