The Message That Kept Him Awake: Contemplating Suicide
The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Manavgat had an incident where a citizen was falsely accused of sexual abuse. Ramazan Ersan Hayıt received a message on his WhatsApp stating that he was being accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl. Later on, documents were sent to him claiming he was sentenced to five years in prison and had to pay 250 thousand lira in compensation for this crime.
Hayıt was startled and feared the severity of the situation, to the point where he contemplated harming himself. He was also considering selling his belongings to gather the money requested from him. It wasn’t until he went to the prosecutor’s office and found out that the documents were indeed fake that he was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
The scam caused Hayıt panic and sleepless nights. He shared his experience to warn others and advised individuals to immediately seek help from authorities if they experience such fraud. This incident is a reminder of the new methods fraudsters use to scam innocent people. Overall, this unfortunate event serves as a cautionary tale for the public to be wary of such scams.
