Title: Uzbek Student Receives $340,000 Scholarship to Study at NYU Abu Dhabi
Eighteen-year-old Mukhlisa Mamatova, a student from Uzbekistan, has been awarded a prestigious $340,000 scholarship to cover her education costs at New York University’s Abu Dhabi campus. In a recent interview with Kun.uz, Mukhlisa shared her experience studying in the Interactive Media program at NYU Abu Dhabi.
Mukhlisa’s passion for drawing and crafting led her to pursue a degree in interactive media, a field that combines computer technologies and communication tools. She explained that the program involves developing various digital products such as mobile applications, computer programs, games, websites, animations, logos, videos, AR, and VR.
The generous scholarship from the university covers Mukhlisa’s tuition, accommodation, meals, and even the cost of two round trips to Uzbekistan each year. In addition, the scholarship provides funding for internships, exchange programs, conferences, sports competitions, and art festivals. The university ensures that students have access to daily transport, textbooks, laptops, and other school supplies.
Mukhlisa praised the academic system at NYU Abu Dhabi, highlighting the high caliber of professors and their engaging teaching methods. She mentioned that students have the opportunity to pursue a second major or a minor in addition to their primary field of study, giving them the flexibility to tailor their education to their interests.
On campus life, Mukhlisa emphasized the strong safety measures in place at NYU Abu Dhabi, including 24/7 surveillance. She mentioned the modern dormitories, diverse food options in the university cafeterias, and the availability of halal meals. The university also provides psychological counseling services to support students’ well-being.
Reflecting on her experience adjusting to university life abroad, Mukhlisa shared her challenges and growth in independence. She acknowledged the higher academic expectations at the university compared to her high school in Uzbekistan and offered advice for students navigating the education system.
