TRT Documentary to Screen “Goal-Scoring Front” Program
The Turkish Cypriots’ struggle for existence, and the role of football in that struggle, will be the focus of a new documentary series titled “To the Front Who Scores Goals” on TRT Documentary. The first episode is set to air tomorrow evening at 20:00 on TRT Belgesel.
The documentary aims to shed light on the historical significance of football in the Turkish Cypriots’ struggle for existence and the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization. This football story, which has played a crucial role in recent history, will be presented in a 6-episode series, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
The series will depict the struggle of the Turkish Cypriots to protect their lands and defend their rightful causes against the Greek occupation and EOKA terrorism. It will also focus on the Turkish Resistance Organization’s movement from the football fields to the front.
Narrated by Researcher and Academician Erdal Hoş, the documentary will explore the resistance movement formed around Çetinkaya Spor, the champion team of Turkish Cypriot football, and TMT’s secret intelligence activities. It will also feature testimonies, leadership roles of figures such as Rauf Denktaş and Dr. Fazıl Küçük, and the support provided by Turkey.
“Goal-Scoring Front”, produced by Volkan Kara and directed by Ömer Çapoğlu, will debut with its first episode “Kick-Off: Taksim” on TRT Documentary tomorrow evening at 20:00. This documentary series promises to be a powerful and poignant portrayal of the indomitable spirit of the Turkish Cypriots and the pivotal role that football has played in their struggle for existence.
