Three Uzbek Women Stranded in Dubai Successfully Repatriated with Consulate Assistance
Three Uzbek Citizens Safely Repatriated from Dubai with Support of Consulate General
Three Uzbek citizens who were stranded in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have been safely repatriated thanks to the assistance of Uzbekistan’s Consulate General. The individuals, identified as I.Kh., I.G., and her minor child I.M., had found themselves in a difficult situation after arriving in the UAE without the necessary visa to legally stay in the country.
According to the Consulate General, the three individuals arrived in Dubai on December 22, 2024, at the invitation of a close relative. They settled in a rented apartment but were unable to obtain the required visa and ended up staying unlawfully in the country. Their situation took a turn for the worse when the person who had invited them informed them of his departure to Qatar and cut off all contact. As a result, they were left without a place to stay and were ultimately evicted from the apartment due to non-payment of rent.
With no financial means for housing, food, or return travel to Uzbekistan, the three citizens were in a dire situation. The Consulate General, along with the charitable organization “Women and Children’s Assistance Center” in the UAE and proactive Uzbek expatriates, stepped in to provide the necessary support. Through negotiations with the relevant authorities, the outstanding fine of $2,178 incurred for their unlawful stay in the UAE was resolved positively.
Additionally, Uzbekistan Airways’ UAE office played a crucial role in facilitating their return by issuing complimentary tickets for the Dubai-Tashkent flight. Thanks to these combined efforts, I.Kh., I.G., and I.M. were able to reunite with their family in Uzbekistan.
This successful repatriation serves as a testament to the importance of diplomatic assistance and cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens in distress abroad.
