Throdex Founder Faruk Fatih Özer Arrested for Organized Crime – Breaking News from Turkey
Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of the crypto currency exchange Thodex, is facing serious legal consequences for his involvement in fraudulent activities. The Istanbul 22nd Regional Courthouse Court has decided to break the file in the case involving Özer and 21 other defendants, with 7 of them detained.
Özer has been charged with “qualified fraud” and “assets caused by criminal assets to launder the values”, leading to his continued detention. Additionally, Özer is facing charges of “establishing an organization to commit a crime”.
The saga began when Özer was caught in Albania on August 30, 2022, and subsequently brought back to Turkey on April 20, 2023. The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of Anatolia has prepared an indictment against him, along with the other defendants, for crimes such as “establishing and managing organization to commit a crime” and “fraud”.
The Anatolian 9th High Criminal Court has sentenced Özer, along with Güven Özer and Serap Özer, to 11 thousand 196 years in prison for crimes including “qualified fraud” and “establishing an organization”. The court also imposed hefty fines on the defendants, totaling billions of pounds.
As the legal proceedings continue, new victims have emerged, leading to the opening of a second investigation file by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The indictment against Özer requests a total of 11 thousand 462 years of imprisonment for his involvement in fraudulent activities.
