TİP withdraws Gökhan Zan’s candidacy in Hatay due to alleged threats and blackmail
TİP Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor candidate Gökhan Zan has withdrawn his candidacy after claiming he was subjected to threats and blackmail. Zan stated that individuals on behalf of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP candidate Lüftü Savaş approached him, threatening him and his family to withdraw his candidacy and discredit him with false records. Refusing to bow to pressure, Zan filed a criminal complaint at the İskenderun Courthouse.
Lawyer Deniz Kızıl announced that a complaint was filed against those who illegally obtained personal data to blackmail Zan. The evidence has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office, and legal action has been initiated to address the issue.
In response to the situation, the Turkish Workers’ Party (TİP) announced the withdrawal of Gökhan Zan’s candidacy for Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor. TİP emphasized their rejection of establishment politics and stated their commitment to transparency and integrity. They expressed regret over the situation but maintained that they will not tolerate any suspicions and have taken decisive action to withdraw Zan’s candidacy.
