Toktogul Reservoir Reaches Record Volume of 11.4 Billion Cubic Meters

Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic – On December 27, the Electric Stations company reported that the water level in Toktogul reservoir is currently at 11.416 billion cubic meters, indicating an increase from the previous year.
The daily water inflow into the reservoir is approximately 183 cubic meters per second, while the outflow is 797 cubic meters per second. Comparatively, a year ago, the inflow was slightly higher at 179 cubic meters per second, and the outflow was significantly less at 451 cubic meters per second.
The volume of water in the reservoir has increased by 0.88 billion cubic meters compared to last year’s levels. This increase is essential for maintaining the functionality of the Toktogul hydropower station, which provides around 40 percent of all electricity in Kyrgyzstan.
It is crucial to monitor the water levels at the reservoir, as a drop to the critical level of 6.5 billion cubic meters could result in the station ceasing to generate electricity. This scenario could lead to power outages across the country, impacting the operations of various enterprises and infrastructure.
The continuous monitoring of the water levels at Toktogul reservoir is essential to ensure the stable supply of electricity to the residents of Kyrgyzstan and prevent any potential disruptions in the future.
