Toktogul Reservoir: Water Levels Declining Despite Increased Inflow

Bishkek, March 28, 2025 – The volume of water in the Toktogul reservoir in Kyrgyzstan is currently at 8.435 billion cubic meters, according to the National Electric Networks of Kyrgyzstan company.
Although the current water level is higher than the same period last year, there has been a decrease from last month’s volume of 8.874 billion cubic meters on February 28, 2025.
There has been a significant increase in the average daily water inflow into the reservoir, with the current inflow at 406 cubic meters per second compared to 182 cubic meters per second a month ago and 302 cubic meters per second a year ago.
Despite the increase in inflow, the water flow remains high at 383 cubic meters per second. This is slightly lower than the average daily flow of 484 cubic meters per second a month ago but higher than the flow of 194 cubic meters per second a year ago.
The data indicates fluctuations in water levels and flow rates in the Toktogul reservoir, highlighting the importance of monitoring and managing water resources effectively.
