As of today, the Toktogul reservoir’s water volume has reached an impressive 8.848 billion cubic meters, according to the latest data from the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan JSC (NENK). This figure represents a notable increase compared to the same period last year, when the reservoir contained only 7.757 billion cubic meters.
Accompanying this increase is a significant reduction in the water outflow from the reservoir. Currently, the average daily outflow stands at just 176 cubic meters per second, while the inflow is nearly triple that amount, measuring at 431 cubic meters per second. For context, on this same date last year, the outflow was recorded at 356 cubic meters per second, with an inflow of only 400 cubic meters per second.
The trends observed on May 5, 2025, align closely with today’s statistics. As of that date, the water volume was recorded at 8.772 billion cubic meters, reflecting an inflow of 399 cubic meters per second and an outflow of 191 cubic meters per second.
These developments highlight not only the reservoir’s capacity but also the critical balance between water inflow and outflow, which is pivotal for hydropower generation and water resource management in the region.
