Admission thresholds to reveal top universities in Hungary
As the graduation period comes to a close in Hungary, students eagerly await the announcement of admission thresholds for the top universities in the country. With applications for law and psychology courses at an all-time high, the competition is fierce.

With the conclusion of secondary level oral exams, 120,990 students are vying for spots at the top universities in Hungary. According to Világgazdaság, the top five universities, which include both metropolitan and rural institutions, will be revealed on 24th July. The majority of applicants have applied for bachelor’s degrees, with business studies, teacher training, technical, IT, and science courses also gaining popularity.
The most sought-after course this year was the Bachelor of Business and Management, followed closely by courses in Psychology, Law, Nursing and Patient Care, and Business and Marketing.
TOP 5 most popular universities in Hungary
Eötvös Loránd University of Applied Sciences (ELTE) leads the pack with 17,080 applicants, followed by the University of Debrecen with 9,950, the University of Szeged with 8,395, the University of Pécs with 7,292, and the Budapest University of Economics and Business with 6,729 applicants.
Each university has its own set of criteria for admission, including institutional points which reward certain achievements such as language exams or advanced level baccalaureate scores.
Deadline for submitting applications
Applicants have until 10th July to submit their documents, make changes to their applications, or withdraw them if necessary. The competition is fierce, but with hard work and dedication, students can secure a spot at one of Hungary’s top universities.
