Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan Strengthen Bilateral Ties during Official Visit
Bishkek, June 26, 2023 – The Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Shakiev, recently met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during his official visit to the country. The meeting aimed to discuss the state of interstate relations and explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament, both parties exchanged views on the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties. Shakiev emphasized the Kyrgyz side’s interest in developing relations with Kazakhstan and highlighted the need to increase the volume of trade between the two countries to $2 billion in the near future. He described Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan as not only strategic partners but also close brotherly countries that have always lived in peace and harmony.
President Tokayev acknowledged the active development of relations between the two states in recent years and expressed satisfaction with the prompt resolution of all issues through negotiations. He also mentioned the significance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two nations. Tokayev praised the successful holding of the Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan in Kazakhstan last year, which enhanced cultural ties between the peoples of both countries with similar traditions and customs. He believed that this cultural exchange contributes to the strengthening of friendship and fraternal relations between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
The meeting between Shakiev and Tokayev reflects the commitment of both countries to further deepen their bilateral ties. This visit is expected to lay the groundwork for increased cooperation and collaboration across various sectors, including politics, economics, and culture.
