Tragic Accident: Five People Drown as Nexia-2 Falls into Syrdarya Canal
Four bodies recovered after car plunges into canal in Syrdarya region
Authorities in the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan have recovered the bodies of four individuals after a tragic car accident. The incident occurred on June 17, 2024, when the driver of a Nexia-2 car lost control and drove into a canal in the city of Shirin.
The car, carrying the driver and four passengers, plunged into the South Mirzachul canal while crossing a bridge connecting two neighborhoods in Shirin. Despite rescue efforts by emergency responders, the driver and three passengers could not escape the sinking vehicle and drowned.
Divers from the emergency rescue team of the Syrdarya region were able to recover the bodies of the driver and three passengers, as well as the car itself, from the canal. However, one passenger is still missing, and rescue teams are continuing their search efforts in the water.
The incident has prompted the investigative department of the Syrdarya regional Department of Internal Affairs to open a criminal case under the charge of violating traffic safety rules, resulting in human casualties. An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is currently underway.
Authorities are urging caution and adherence to traffic safety regulations to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
