Governor Mustafa Çiftçi revealed that the tragic incident took place during a nature walk by the 15-person athlete team and their coaches. Despite prompt response from rescue teams, they were unable to save one of the athletes. The governor assured that the injured athletes were receiving appropriate medical attention.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak, shared a message of condolence for the national athlete who lost his life in the avalanche. He expressed his deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Emre Yazgan, praying for strength and patience during this difficult time.
