Tragic Gas Explosion at Andijan Mosque: 3 Dead, 10 Hospitalized

A devastating gas explosion at a mosque in the Izboskan district of Andijan region has left three people dead and 10 others injured. The incident occurred in the ablution room of the mosque located in the ‘Mirzo Ulugbek’ neighborhood on Yangibozor Street.

The Andijan Province Emergency Department received a report of the gas-air mixture ignition at 12:19 on March 31. Quick response teams and fire-rescue crews were dispatched to the scene, where the walls and roof structures of the ablution room sustained damage. Thankfully, no fire broke out as a result of the explosion.

Unfortunately, three individuals, identified as M. Abdullaev, J. Anvarov, and B. Burkhanov, lost their lives in the incident. Ten others, named G. Toilokov, A. Abdirayimjonov, H. Zuhriddinov, I. Rahimov, M. Mamaturayimov, I. Shomurodov, K. Kosimov, U. Boltaboev, M. Abdurahmonov, and M. Boltaboev, sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Various government agencies, including the Emergency Department, Internal Affairs Department, National Guard, State Security Service, Prosecutor’s Office, and regional gas supply company “Hududgazta’minot,” responded to the scene to assess the situation. Deputy Prime Minister O. Ramatov and Minister of Emergency Situations Major General B. Kudratkhujaev also visited the district to oversee the response efforts.

Preliminary investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the explosion. The community is mourning the loss of life and offering support to those affected by this tragic incident.
