Tragic Hotel Fire in Uludağ Claims Life of Fikriye Usta: Latest News from Turkey
The Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic hotel fire that occurred on 27 March in the Uludağ Hotels Region. The fire resulted in the deaths of the national skiing champion Berkin Usta and his father, former national skiing champion Yahya Usta.
In addition to the Usta family, the President of the Turkish Ski and Snowboard Teachers Association, Yahya Usta, also lost his life in the fire. His wife, Fikriye Usta, was seriously injured and was receiving treatment at Bursa High Specialized Training and Research Hospital. Unfortunately, Fikriye Usta passed away today due to her injuries.
The funeral for Master Usta is set to take place tomorrow. The entire skiing community is mourning the loss of these individuals.
As part of the investigation, an expert delegation from Istanbul, consisting of 6 people, conducted an on-site investigation at the hotel under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor and Gendarmerie. The report prepared by the delegation will be crucial in determining the cause of the fire and will be added to the investigation file.
