Dozens of Children Drown in Kyrgyzstan’s Reservoirs in Six Months
Bishkek – In a tragic turn of events, at least 60 children have drowned in Kyrgyzstan’s reservoirs over the span of six months, according to a report by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Law enforcement officers have been conducting thorough inspections of recreational areas near reservoirs and rivers. Additionally, they have been engaging in preventive conversations with vacationers, emphasizing the importance of swimming only in designated areas.
Last year, a total of 85 people drowned in Kyrgyzstan, with 28 of them being minors. The majority of these tragic accidents occurred during the summer season in the regions of Chui, Osh, and Issyk-Kul.
In response to these alarming figures, authorities are focusing on raising awareness about water safety and implementing stricter measures to prevent such incidents. It is crucial for parents, caregivers, and communities to prioritize the safety of children and take necessary precautions when engaging in water activities.
